Description
The College of Business and Administration at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of Teaching Assistants in Cybersecurity from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.

This position will assist with the teaching of online cybersecurity classes for the Colorado Cybersecurity Apprenticeship (C-CAP) program. The position is responsible for teaching two to three labs per week for 8-week or 16-week classes in addition to providing one office hour per week.

The duties are including, but not limited to:

  • Lab preparation and support
  • Grading lab assignments
  • Assisting students
  • Conducting lab tutorials
  • Answering student questions on lab and lab assignments
  • Student consultations
  • Here is a potential list of classes that Teaching Assistants may be required for: Managing Network Interconnections, Cybersecurity Technologies, IT Risk Management, Cloud Computing and Security, Ethical Hacking, IT Security Auditing, and Organizational Cybersecurity.

    This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

    What We Offer:
     

    Salary Range: $2,000 - $5,000 per 3-credit hour course. Pay rate is subject to student enrollment.

     

    These positions are dependent on the availability of auxiliary revenues funding.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications

    • Completed Master’s degree in information security, information systems, information technology, computer science or a closely related field.
    • 18-credits of graduate course work in cybersecurity or information security.
    Preferred Qualifications

    • Completed doctorate degree (Ph.D.) from a regionally accredited institution.
    • Prior teaching experience in one of the specific courses listed.
    • Relevant industry experience.
    • Relevant industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications.
    Physical Requirements

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. 
    • Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills.
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
