GIS-224 Geographical Information Systems

Seeking an adjunct instructor for an evening section in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This course introduces the concepts of GIS and geospatial analysis of databases. Through a series of lectures, hands-on computer-based exercises, and web enhanced modules, students will learn the essential elements of a GIS, hardware requirements, GIS software, data acquisition, data structures, spatial databases, methods of data analysis and spatial modeling, and applications of GIS. This course is designed as a core requirement for the A.S. Environmental Science program but can also be used as a stand-alone course to compliment a wide range of academic disciplines to map resources and other mapping related functions of planning and management.



Job Requirements:
  • GIS skills required
  • Strong laboratory skills required
  • College-level teaching experience required; community college teaching experience preferred
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE INVITED TO ATTEND THE ADJUNCT ACADEMY PRIOR TO BEING ASSIGNED COURSES.

Salary: $1,104.00 per credit hour
