Professional Research Assistant

This position involves the handling of data related to patient diagnostic testing under CAP and CLIAA regulations, as well as work under the FDA GxPs as involved in new drug development. The candidate will be part of a team doing esoteric and niche testing in complement and autoimmunity. The successful candidate will have an interest and aptitude for data, demonstrated ability to maintain and manipulate large data sets, experience with databases, will be detail-oriented, and have a strong interest in advancing human health.

Professional Field

The laboratory specializes in the development and validation of novel biomarkers, translating research discoveries into actionable diagnostic testing.  The work will also be used to support immunotoxicology and efficacy testing for new drug development. The candidate will need to comfortable working in a regulated environment in compliance with CLIAA/CAP as well as the FDA GxPs. 

 

Supervision Received

This position will report to the Laboratory Director and while work in concert with the laboratory Project Manager, Quality Assurance and testing staff.

 

Supervision Exercised

This position will have no supervisory responsibilities beyond full accountability for the quality and integrity of their own work.

 

Examples of Work Performed

This PRA position will perform the following duties:

  • Create, maintain, and enforce policies for effective data management
  • Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data
  • Devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects of the data formatting and client data delivery requirements
  • Interface with client data management teams including completion of data transfer agreements (DTA) and overseeing data cleaning and reconciliation of final data sets
  • Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to regulatory standards and laboratory SOPs
  • Assist with reports and data extraction when needed for data reporting to client and for production of reports
  • Monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.)
  • Ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses
  • Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications
  • Work with study clients to oversee the Data Transfer Agreements
  • Extract data from the Watson Laboratory Information System to meet the sponsor/clients Data Transfer Agreement
  • Manage the capacity and productivity management software to track progress to data completion
 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $44,500 to $67,000.

 

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

 

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor degree
  • Previous experience in data handling and or database work
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in immunology, biology, data science or related field.  Previous experience with data transfer agreements or other form of regulated data sets  
  • Experience with a Laboratory Information Management System or large research database and data sets
