Job Details

Princeton University

The Princeton Dance Program is seeking choreographers to teach fall 2021 courses staging repertory or creating work with students. Positions are expected to begin September 1, 2021. Classes are expected to meet twice per week (Tue/Thur 4:30pm - 6:20pm) starting September 1, 2021, with performances at the Berlind Theater in late November 2021. Each class must integrate dance training to meet the demands of the repertory. Choreographers must be open to working with performers of varying backgrounds and experiences. Works must be suitable for gender neutral casting and appropriate for varying cast sizes, depending on enrollments. Responsibilities include grading students based on an evaluation of their participation and work in the semester. We welcome a range of styles, genres, and practices. To apply, submit a CV, a cover letter including an undergraduate teaching philosophy and a description of your proposed repertory or creative process, and contact information for at least one reference. Provide three to six links to choreography with full-length pieces, and indicate cue points for viewing selections. If applicable, please include pieces staged on or created with undergraduate students in your material. Do not submit promo reels. The search committee will begin reviewing applications April 1, 2021, with applications accepted until July 1, 2021. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience, and a record of teaching in higher education is preferred. The Dance Program pursues its mission by bringing together a vibrantly diverse community of people with different backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, skills and talents and encourages applications from the broadest possible range of candidates. These positions are subject to the University's background check policy.
