Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:The Department of Art at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor to teach studio courses in Social Practice at the graduate level, and undergraduate courses in Performance and Video, Installation, Photography, Museum and Gallery Practices, or other Studio Art practices. Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required, as is evidence of ongoing creative practice and exhibitions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to a socially engaged art practice and have the ability to teach graduate studio courses in Social Practice and undergraduate courses in other studio courses that encourage students to cross boundaries between disciplines.
Responsibilities include teaching 3 courses per semester. Ongoing creative accomplishments, exhibitions, and community engagement are expected.

Educational Requirements for the Position:Applicants must have an MFA in Art and Social Practice or a related field.
Experience Required for the Position:Experience teaching at the undergraduate level, and creating socially engaged art projects.
Other Requirements for the Position:The successful candidate will have an ongoing, sustainable, and engaged art practice, and be prepared to be an active faculty member who is engaged with the department, college, university, local and professional communities.
