Ricks Center for Gifted Children at the University of Denver is an exemplary program designed for gifted children. We provide nationally recognized gifted education to approximately 250 students ranging from ages three years old through eighth grade, who demonstrate exceptional, differentiated abilities and learning.

Position Summary
The Ricks Center invites applications for a Middle School (5th - 8th grade) Math Teacher. We seek a candidate with expertise in mathematics, progressive education, and the developing adolescent. We desire a candidate who is adept at working with a diverse group of gifted students with varying math abilities requiring differentiation, individualized instruction and content acceleration. This position requires a dynamic individual who approaches mathematics conceptually with a strong focus on understanding, love of mathematics, and skill aptitude and application.

Essential Functions

  • Teach multiple math classes.
  • Assess student mathematical development and performance.
  • Implement and expand on state of the art curriculum.
  • Serve on the Math Curriculum Committee.
  • Support the school mission through active involvement in the school community.
  • Participate in team teaching across content areas.
  • Interact and be involved with parents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in education, mathematics or a related field.
  • 3+ years of teaching experience.
  • Valid teacher's license or the qualifications necessary to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with gifted children.
  • Knowledge of social/emotional learning curriculum and special needs development.
  • Graduate hours in education of the gifted.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 8.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $52,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
