Public Access Television Programming Technician

The Public Access Television Program Technician enters submitted and FLTV-created programming into the broadcast server, conducts live and recorded video productions, edits video, graphics and captioning; maintains records and conducts correspondence related to productions.

This is a temporary, grant-funded position.

1. Qualifications:

A. Educational Background: Associate's Degree in broadcast engineering, cinematography or related with a focus on media production required; Bachelor’s degree in same fields or related preferred.

B. Experience: Minimum of one year in media production, video editing and video encoding; basic graphics skills, valid, current and clean NYS driver’s license required.

C. Special Skills: Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills. Enjoys working with both equipment and people. Ability to teach.

2. Essential Functions:

  • Perform all activities required to broadcast public access programming on Spectrum cable channel 1304, a web channel and social media, including pre- and post-production work; perform studio and field camera operation for live and recording productions.
  • Program scheduled broadcast events for airing using the automated broadcast server, ingesting newly delivered content into the FLTV network of digital media, perform database entry.
  • Update the community bulletin board with community submissions.
  • Maintain production records.
  • Communicate with FLTV clients and FLCC departments.
  • Instruct FLCC students on camera operation and other facets of video production.
  • Properly handle and maintain FLTV production and broadcasting equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Relations and Community Affairs.
  • The starting salary is $39,517 and commensurate with experience.
