Description:

The John W. Deming Department of Medicine, Section of Endocrinology at Tulane University School of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. The position involves participating in a university-based general Endocrinology practices located in the greater New Orleans. An M.D. or D.O. is required. Candidates are expected to be board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. The candidate will participate in teaching medical students, residents, and Endocrinology fellows, in addition to full-time clinical activities.
The successful candidates will provide clinical care for patients with a wide variety of endocrine disorders, including diabetes and thyroid disease, primarily at our UVA endocrinology/diabetes clinic. The successful candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to medical education, and a commitment to scholarship/quality improvement and health equity will be viewed favorably. Opportunities to participate in research may also be available. Individuals from underrepresented-in-medicine groups are highly encouraged to apply.

Teaching responsibilities may include conducting clinical and education activities. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to teach in the endocrine fellowship and internal medicine residency programs at Tulane School of Medicine

The new physician will be an integral member of the Section Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include translational, clinical or health services research in endocrine disorders. The successful candidate will join a highly interactive and exciting multidisciplinary academic and clinical environment at the Tulane School of Medicine and be expected to lead a creative, independent program of research as well as mentor junior investigators and support clinical research efforts in the department. A record of current or past extramural funding is desirable.


Qualifications:
  •  Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree and must be ABIM board-eligible/certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism by the appointment start date.
  • You will have 24 months to pass the ABIM certified exam in Endocrinology
