Extension Program Assistant III

Knox County

Pay Grade 36

Continuation of this position is dependent upon continued funding

and satisfactory work performance.




The Extension Program Assistant III is responsible to the County Extension Director. This position will support county work to:


  • Work cooperatively with all county Extension staff for the implementation and teaching of the program with curriculum development and training activities.
  • Conduct and teach programs individually and in group settings.
  • Assist Extension agents in planning monthly programs and provide leadership to County clientele.
  • Classroom decisions pertaining to minor student disciplinary action and monthly program development.
  • Assist with program member enrollment and reports, as well as prepare monthly program materials.
  • Provides information/documentation for evaluation of impact regarding programs represented by Extension.
  • Assists staff in providing information to the public regarding specific questions or problems pertaining to their situation.
  • Recruits for future program participants.
  • Other appropriate duties related to Agricultural & Natural Resources programming as needed.
  • Be responsible for 40 hours of work a week.

Minimum/Required Qualifications (include education, experience, skills & abilities, licenses & certifications):

  • High school degree or equivalent with three-four years of office experience required. Two years’ experience equates to one year of post-high school education.
  • Two years of related experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to organize files and prioritize tasks.
  • General office and computer skills with excellent written and oral communication skills.
