Instructor will work with Upward Bound High School students. This position is for the Criminal Justice instructor.Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Upon entry in the UB program, participants are asked to list their career interests during the application/interview phase. Once students are selected to participate and are marked active, the UB Advisor will sit with the student to provide an individual contact on academic advising and career planning in order to discuss career opportunities within the field. Students are then introduced to the UB Guided Pathways and given a brief overview. The students will rank in order of highest to least interested. Once the student has selected the pathway of their choice, the student is placed in one of the 7 UB Guided Pathway course tracks. The Criminal Justice Seminar is formulated to expose students on the process of how the Criminal Justice System is designed for career development. The Students will review the different crime scenes to help come up with what happened. The emphasized skills that will be developed through this seminar are writing, communication, debate and critical thinking. This class is a way to teach crime scene investigators how to investigate a crime scene based on the evidence given. Required Work Experience
Experience developing and preparing course materials/syllabi. Experience delivering lectures, leading discussions and/or laboratory experiments. Experience conducting evaluations of student performance and assignment of grades.Required Education
Master's degree in the teaching discipline.Other Preferred Qualifications
Valid Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) credential. College-level teaching experience can substitute for the teaching certificate.Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a learning lab environment on campus in an academic setting. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.Safety
