Assistant Professor, Coordinator of Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program  

 – Department of Nursing Science  


The Department of Nursing Science at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN seeks qualified candidates for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level to serve in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program – Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner clinical track to start in Fall 2021. This person also will serve as the Coordinator of Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program. 

The successful candidate will be an experienced nurse educator with expertise and national certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.  The applicant will serve as the coordinator for the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program and also will be expected to teach primarily in the graduate programs. Teaching responsibilities will include classroom as well as clinical instruction.  Familiarity with online education, the use of simulation and online student patient management documentation systems is desirable.   

A terminal degree in nursing and certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner are required.  An applicant who is completing doctoral work within 1 year of hire will be considered.   

Candidates will be expected to participate in Department of Nursing Science and College committees.  The candidate is accountable for maintaining an active program of research (discovery or translation) depending on the terminal degree.  Support will be provided for clinical practice of one day per week maximum.
