Among these is the Department of Family Medicine (DFM) which is dedicated to “helping people be healthier" by educating, nurturing, fostering, and enhancing those in the field of family medicine and the communities we live in and serve. The Department of Family Medicine has five (5) focus areas, each with specific goals:

  • Education – Training the family medicine and primary care workforce;
  • Research – Creating and disseminating new knowledge;
  • Communities - Connecting with our communities to achieve health equity; and
  • Diversity & Health Equity - To build and foster a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the communities we serve.
Nature of Work

The clinician (MD or DO) in this position will function as a family medicine provider in a family medicine clinic, providing high quality medical care and supervising fellows, residents and students as needed.

This position is posted at the Senior Instructor level; in the event that one’s experience exceeds that of a Senior Instructor, or if the candidate wants to be on the promotion track, Assistant Professor will be considered. If the candidate has additional experience, Associate Professor or Professor will be considered.

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Clinical Care

  • Provide full scope direct patient care in an ambulatory clinical setting.
  • Participate as needed in chart review and clinical coding compliance activities.
  • Assist in supervision advanced practice providers at the clinic.
  • Supervise medical students, residents, fellows and other healthcare learners.
  • Assist in administrative/clinical quality improvement functions relating to a variety of programs at the direction of the medical director.
Teaching and Mentoring

  • Provide education to fellows, residents and medical students during their ambulatory rotation.
Administrative/Professional Development

  • Maintain eligibility for School of Medicine Faculty.
  • ­Keep abreast of the latest developments in field, both academically and through applied skill.
  • Attend and present at conferences, meetings and trainings in order to maintain certification and enhance professional skills; participates in faculty development activities.
  • Accept other responsibilities assigned by the Medical Director
Supervision Received

The Family Physician reports to the Medical Director of the Practice.

Supervision Exercised

The Family Physician may provide guidance to nurses, MAs and other clinic staff.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position has been established at:

Senior Instructor or Assistant Professor: $189,000 - $199,000

Associate Professor: $195, 000 - $205,000

Professor: $200,000 - $212,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Minimum Qualifications  

Senior Instructor

    Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family MedicineGraduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program.Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate. Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and UPI Managed Care.
Assistant Professor 

    Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family MedicineGraduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program.Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate.Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and UPI Managed Care.
Associate Professor

    Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program and 7+ years’ experience working in primary care.Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate.Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and UPI Managed Care. Ability to meet the School of Medicine’s criteria for associate professor.
Professor

    Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program and 10+ years’ experience working in primary care.Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate.Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and UPI Managed Care. Ability to meet the School of Medicine’s criteria for full professor.
Preferred Qualifications (all positions)

  • Experience and enthusiasm for teaching students and/or residents.
  • Experience in an integrated practice/patient-centered medical home (PCMH) environment.
  • Experience or interest in education and research and faculty development.
  • Experience with using an electronic health record system, preferably Epic
  • Experience with providing Telehealth/virtual visits
