Department Summary:

The UNT Health Science Center Clinical Practice Group is the academic practice plan for the Health Science Center. Focused on primary care and improving health outcomes to all to build a healthier community, UNTHSC Clinical Practice Group has 13 unique clinics on the UNTHSC campus. Select specialties are aligned with key educational and clinical objectives supporting our primary care focus. In each clinic, an interprofessional team works collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. The UNTHSC Clinical Practice Group as an interdisciplinary team of primary care and specialty care providers who are dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of our patients through patient centered clinical care, research and the education of health profession students.

Position Overview:

The UNT Health Student Health and Priority Care Clinic at the University of North Texas health Science Center is seeking to hire a Medical Assistant to join our team.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of related experience. Requires graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Physical Requirements:

Carrying, Cleaning, Climbing, Kneeling, Lifting up to 10 pounds, Lifting up to 25 pounds, Pulling , Pushing, Reaching, Sitting, Squatting, Stooping, Bending, Standing, Walking, Writing, Grasp, Ability to communicate

o:

·Record patients’ medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.

o:

•Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.

o:

•Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight and height.

o:

•Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.

o:

•Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.

o:

•Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory
specimens, log the specimens and prepare them for testing.

o:

•Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.

o:

•Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians’ instructions to patients.

o:

•Clean and sterilize instruments
and dispose of contaminated supplies.

o:

•Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
