Description:

The Department of Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences (GCHB) at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine is seeking a full-time tenure-track faculty member with expertise in any area of public health nutrition, including nutrition education, community nutrition, food policy, nutritional epidemiology, food security and resilience, or nutritional anthropology. The anticipated start date for the position is the summer or fall 2020.

GCHB is the largest department in the School, with faculty representing many different disciplines. The doctoral program offers both a PhD and DrPH degree, and the MPH program offers degrees in any of five different concentrations: Nutrition, Health Education and Communication, Maternal and Child Health, International Health and Development, and Community Health Sciences. The Department also houses the Mary Amelia Women's Center, the Center for Excellence in Maternal and Child Health, and the Center for Studies of Displaced Populations, and the Nutrition-MCH Leadership Training Program. GCHB has very strong ties with nearby city and state public health agencies, community-based organizations, and international organizations, all of which provide opportunities for studies on nutrition and food security.

The individual hired for this position will be responsible for developing an independent extramurally-funded research program, as well as teaching and mentoring graduate students. The position requires an earned doctorate in a relevant field, experience or potential as a funded investigator, publications in peer-reviewed journals, and teaching experience. Although applicants with expertise in any area of public health nutrition are sought, those who focus on community-based applications are particularly encouraged to apply.
