Summary/Basic Function:
•Participate in a Student Leadership Academy at the beginning of Fall Semester and others as specified
•Assist with Open House Events, Orientation Events, Admissions/Housing Tours to get to know student
•Duty Coverage includes daily/evening hours (applies to all residence halls as needed for rounds and designated desk duty for weekdays and weekends)
oBe on-call and accessible by radio
oStay in hall unless there is someone to cover
oContact college officials as needed for emergency situations
•Visitation/Lobby Duty (Sunday-Saturday)
oMake rounds in buildings to enforce visitation policy procedures
oPrepare and verify visitation log sheets
oCheck student identification for visitation procedures
oMaintain order throughout the lobbies and hallways, etc.
•Confront and report (official incident report if necessary) individuals violating college policy
•Attend staff meetings/ In-service trainings
oAttend full staff meetings as scheduled (all residence halls)
oAttend building staff meetings as scheduled (with RD)
oParticipate in In-Services as planned by Resident Directors, Residence Life, etc.
•Check-in and check-out individuals moving on and off floor due to room changes, move-outs, etc.
•Assist in evacuating buildings during fire alarms/drills, emergency situations, etc.
•Serve as an information resource for residents/students
oCheck mailbox and email at least twice a day
oAdvertise information on hallway, lobby area, etc.
o“Talk up” all campus event programming and role model with own participation
•Leave last and come back early from holiday breaks, etc.
•Show flexibility, positive attitude, and team player mentality
•Work on one of three Community Working Groups:
oAcademic Working Group (Tutor and Mentor Academically)
Engage resident students with academic concerns
Tutor and Mentor in specific subject areas
Coordinate with the Student Success Center on programs
Contact and assist Always Alert referrals
oActivity Working Group (Coordinate and Promote Programming Events)
Gather ideas from residents
Coordinate Hall programs with faculty and staff members
Engage all resident students in activities
Attend student activity planned events
oAdministrative Working Group (Monitor and
Participate in regular Health/Safety Inspections and assist residents with facility concerns
Participate and help document regular Walk-Thru Assessments with Facilities
Participate on a rotational Conflict Resolution/Mediation Team
Work in the Housing Office (filing, shredding, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Requirements
1.Must be of good character, honest, and upright (must role model good moral, ethical, financial, physical and academic habits).
2.Must have leadership ability, able to organize and direct others; gain the support of those he/she leads; have respect for others.
3.Must be available, including most weekends and evenings, and not overly involved in extracurricular activities (on or off campus).
4.Must have interest in others and a desire to help those in need, as well as the ability to discern needs of students on his/her floor.
5.Must be responsible in performing required duties.
6.Must have the ability to follow and enforce college/residence hall rules and regulations (must not have been under any disciplinary sanctions and must remain sanction free for the remainder of time at Gordon).
7.Must have a minimum cumulative GPA for academic courses of 2.15 GPA or higher; GPA is expected to be higher after each successive semester (Preferred: 2.25 GPA and one or more semesters of campus live-on experience).
8.Must be able to maintain the required 12 credit class hours while fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
9.Must participate in Student Employee Basic Boot Camp Workshop during Spring and Fall Semesters.
10.Must participate in a Student Leadership Academy at the beginning of Fall Semester and others as specified
