Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services is responsible for providing vision, leadership, development and delivery of all clinical, consultative, and mental health promotion programs and services.

  • Oversee the provision of a wide range of counseling and crisis management services
  • Provide consultation to GGC administration and campus community as well as serve on various campus committees including the Student Behavioral Concerns Team (GGC's behavioral intervention team)
  • Supervision of clinical staff, administrative staff and engage in supervision of post-doctoral fellow(s) and practicum student(s).
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with local mental health professionals to coordinate treatment services and referrals
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and ensure ethical standards are upheld in the execution of clinical services
  • Gather and analyze center data for reports to Student Affairs and administration (including grants)
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local training programs
  • Develop and provide educational resources to the campus community
  • Develop program goals and assess outcomes
  • Pursue Counseling Center accreditation with the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS)
  • Manage the Counseling Center budget
  • Provide individual and group counseling
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree
  • Licensure as a psychologist in the State of Georgia
  • Three years experience in university/college counseling center
  • Supervisory experience in counseling setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years experience in university/college counseling center
  • Supervisory experience in university/college counseling setting
Conditions of Employment
  • Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
