Responsibilities

DESK OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT: Work closely with the Assistant Director of Administration and Operations to develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective support and services provided through front desk operations in 11 residential areas. Ensure Front Desk manuals, logs, hall information sheets, and other documents are regularly updated and properly stored in designated locations; oversee inventory and ordering of supplies needed for office and duty purposes; Assist with the coordination and communication related to residence hall openings, closings, and transitional periods. Identify and implement technology uses to streamline operations.

SUPERVISION: Provide daily leadership, supervision, professional development, and evaluation for Desk Leads and Desk Assistant employees; monitor and ensure supervision of Desk Assistant student staff employees with Human Resources rules and regulations; provide general oversight of all aspects of accountability and recognition of Desk Assistant employees; coordinate scheduling of shifts to ensure appropriate levels of coverage in residence halls at all times.

DESK ASSISTANT RECRUITMENT & TRAINING: Assist the Program Coordinator and Assistant Director of Recruitment and Training to develop and implement recruitment, selection, and training strategies for Desk Assistant positions; coordinate and implement all aspects of the recruitment and hiring process for Desk Assistant positions in compliance with Human Resources rules and regulations; coordinate and implement comprehensive Front Desk Operations training curriculum for all student staff.

SAFETY & SECURITY INITIATIVES: Work closely with the Assistant Director Administration & Operations to develop and implement safety and security initiatives in the residence halls.

CRISIS MANAGEMENT: Assist with on call and overnight crisis management in the Residence Halls; create and maintain a safe and secure environment for persons and property; serve in on-call duty rotation; provide crisis response for situations related to student behavior, facilities concerns, and environmental emergencies; provide direction to hall staff regarding security related job responsibilities.

DEPARTMENTAL SUPPORT: Serve on Departmental and/or Divisional committees/work-groups; assist with Departmental initiatives.

Live ON OPTION available through June 2022

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of experience related to the duties of this position.

(Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

Ability to adhere to ethical business practices and promote ethical behavior.

Ability to deal with crises and manage sensitive information.

Ability to effectively train and direct the work of others.

Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of student program planning, development, and evaluation.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Preferred

Master’s degree in higher education administration, student personnel, counseling, or related field before July 1, 2021, and have full-time or graduate housing/residence life experience in a college/university setting.

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.

Anticipated Salary Range

Salary is commensurate with experience and include a full state benefits package.
