The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida is seeking applications for a full-time academic breast surgeon to join the faculty.  The level of academic appointment will be dependent on qualifications.  Both tenure research as well as non-tenure clinical track options are available. The applicant must be Board eligible or certified in general surgery, as well as completed a fellowship in breast surgery or surgical oncology.

This individual will have a unique opportunity to join a National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) accredited academic breast center whose focus is on the multidisciplinary team approach to breast care.  We are looking to compliment our team of two breast surgeons with hopes to expand our breast cancer program both clinically, as well as in translational research if interested.  The individual will work alongside members of our multidisciplinary breast team who are dedicated to providing our patients with cutting-edge breast cancer care.  We have a comprehensive multidisciplinary breast team that meets weekly, and is comprised of dedicated fellowship trained breast radiologists, pathologists, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, clinical trial coordinators as well as lymphedema certified physical therapists.   Our multidisciplinary team is supported with a dedicated breast cancer navigator.  Our patients have access to high risk breast cancer clinics, dedicated genetic counselors, integrative medicine, clinical psychologists, as well as nutrition specialists.

The applicant will have the opportunity to participate in cutting edge clinical trials, as well as have the opportunity for collaborative research with departments throughout the University of Florida – which was recently ranked No. 6 public university in the country by U.S. News & World Report.  The applicant will develop a clinical practice at UF Health at the University of Florida, in Gainesville, which is the primary teaching hospital for the University of Florida College of Medicine and includes a comprehensive 750+ bed facility with a dedicated cancer hospital. Furthermore, the Division has a long-standing commitment to education of medical students, residents and fellows, and the new surgeon will be involved in this effort.  The applicant will also be provided dedicated time to pursue academic interests.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate for this position must have a M.D. degree, or equivalent, and be board certified or eligible in general surgery.  The applicant must have completed a fellowship in breast surgery or surgical oncology with a demonstrated commitment to an academic career through teaching and clinical practice. Must be eligible for a Florida Medical License.

Preferred Qualifications: The applicant must be committed to advancing the clinical care that we provide our breast patients, and eager to join a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
