Ricks Center for Gifted Children at the University of Denver is an exemplary school serving the needs of gifted children since 1984. We provide nationally recognized gifted education to approximately 250 students ranging from three years of age through eighth grade, who demonstrate exceptional, differentiated abilities and learning needs.

Position Summary
The Ricks Center invites applications for a full time Middle School (fifth through eighth grade) History Teacher. We seek a candidate with expertise in History, Integrated Studies and the developing adolescent. We desire a candidate who is adept at working with a diverse group of gifted students with varying abilities requiring differentiation, individualized instruction, content acceleration, and strong social emotional leadership. This position requires a dynamic individual who models a passion for and expertise in History. We seek a candidate with expertise in current trends in middle school instruction, and content integration.

Essential Functions

  • Teach multiple History classes.
  • Assess student development and performance.
  • Creation of high level curriculum.
  • Support the school mission through the active involvement in the school community.
  • Team teaching across content areas; interaction and involvement with parents, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or related field.
  • Valid teaching certificate/license, special license, or licensable.
  • Experience with Middle School students.
  • Experience teaching gifted children.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate hours in education of the gifted.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 8.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $52,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
