About the College/Unit/Department:

In 2018, The UGA Tifton Campus began a yearlong Centennial celebration with various events to commemorate its 100th anniversary of providing updated research to the community.

Research is done on a wide range of commodities, including cotton, peanuts, vegetables and turf grass, all of which make agriculture the No. 1 industry in Georgia.

In 2004, a teaching program was initiated and it has been growing ever since. College-level instruction on campus is aimed at undergraduate and graduate-degree level study.

This position is located in Tifton, GA, which is approximately 200 miles southwest of Athens, Georgia, 200 miles south of Atlanta, GA and approximately 70 miles north of the Florida line.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required. Previous work as an accountant or CPA is desirable.

Position Summary:

The Business Manager will provide financial support to scientists in the departments of Entomology and Crop and Soil Sciences. The incumbent will be responsible for proper routing and budgeting of new employees, allocation and sign-offs on PCARD transactions, and maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions. Further, the successful business manager will need to work closely with departmental and college staff to ensure that all personnel are properly budgeted well in advance and that monthly payroll is submitted on time. Finally, the person will be responsible for working with faculty to close out accounts in advance of project completions on restricted accounts or at the end of the fiscal year on state accounts.

Management and curation of all state and external funds to individual units, scientists or University programs. Expenses will be correctly coded and entered into UGA Financials and accounts must be allocated before the end of the project following a budget.
