Overview and Responsibilities

College Specialists are active members of the Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) Recruitment team and interact with prospective students, community agenices, and key stakeholders to promote CVTC to prospective students and key stakeholders in the community. College Specialists facilitate the college exploration and enrollment process through multiple channels and assist prospective students in making informed decisions about enrollment at CVTC. College Specialists provide individualized assistance to prospective students by exploring career options and being the primary point of contact to help them navigate through the admissions process.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a highly engaged member of CVTC’s sales team focused on developing and nurturing relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., K12 school districts, community agencies, employers, etc.) to ensure CVTC is viewed positively and considered a premier partner in education and training in the Chippewa Valley.
  • Research and analyze market trends in higher education and adapt existing or implement new best practices to ensure CVTC is viewed as a leader.
  • Create and execute strategic marketing and recruitment plans for respective territories and target markets to increase prospect conversions and ensure maximum funding allocation through the performance based funding model specific to the FTE component of the funding formula.
  • Review and analyze recruitment strategies quarterly to ensure alignment with CVTC’s strategic plan and progress towards annual recruitment/sales goals (e.g., applications, presentations, etc.)
  • Serve as liaison for prospective adult and high school students on academic programming, career planning, assessment resources, post-secondary education opportunities, admissions, financial aid, and CVTC support services through multiple avenues.
  • Create and push live content to CVTC’s social media channels and respond to inquiries/messages that come through social media platforms.
  • Work with K12 districts and district Chamber of Commerce offices to strategically align middle school recruitment efforts with the Department of Public Instruction’s Academic and Career Planning initiative.
  • Collaborate with faculty and deans to coordinate career and technical education showcases in middle and high schools in CVTC’s 11-county district and beyond.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for prospective students and their families and the public at large through multiple communication channels including, but not limited to, in-person contacts, phone, email, SMS text, social media channels and web chat.
  • Plan and execute large (700+ attendees) recruitment events and activities targeted to prospective students and community partners.
  • Provide excellent customer service and strategically engage with prospective students to maximize reach and achieve recruitment goals.
  • Manage and maintain accurate customer information in regards to activities related to prospective students (e.g., tracking of inquiries, presentations, follow-up calls, overall application numbers, etc.) within the designated systems including, but not limited to, departmental CRM, College ERP, and Google Team drives.
  • Provide assistance to high school staff in regards to dual credit options, facilitate the registration of transcripted credit courses in the high schools, and advise prospective students in regards to options for earning college credit while in high school.
  • Organize and facilitate professional development activities to promote CVTC to community agencies and employer partners.
  • Represent and speak on behalf of CVTC with local media outlets to promote events and CVTC brand.
  • Develop accurate and attractive presentation content and deliver to large key stakeholder audiences.
  • Manage departmental projects to ensure deadlines and strategic objectives are met.
  • Systematically evaluate real-time situations and make independent decisions with minimal to no manager direction.

  • Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to travel (i.e., access to reliable transportation) to various campuses, schools, and other sites in CVTC's 11-county district as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a sales position.
  • Experience in a secondary and postsecondary educational setting preferred.

Location and Campuses

Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) is part of the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) and serves an eleven-county area in west central Wisconsin. The largest campus is located in Eau Claire and includes a Business Education Center and Health Education Center, plus a Manufacturing Education Center at the Gateway Campus and an Emergency Service Education Center and Energy Education Center at the West Campus. CVTC has regional centers in Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, Neillsville, and River Falls. The College is one of 16 WTCS colleges located throughout the state.

Student Profile

Student enrollment exceeds 8,000 credit students per year, plus over 9,000 non-credit students, with full-time equivalents of over 4,000. The median age of credit students is 24. Approximately 68% of students receive financial aid and 44% are Pell Grant students.

Programs and Placement

CVTC offers 110 programs, 35 certificates, and customized training to an average of 140 businesses annually. CVTC has an outstanding placement rate, 95% of graduates are employed within six months of graduation, with 87% in a related field.
