TITLE: Instructor/Fellow

The Department of Neurology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an opening for a one-year fellowship position (instructor) in the Division of Epilepsy. The position will begin in July 1, 2019.

The goal of the Epilepsy fellowship is to provide training to neurologists in the care of patients with epilepsy, and to further the mission and vision of the Epilepsy Program in patient care, research and education. The responsibilities in this second year of epilepsy fellowship will include the following:

Refining skills in pre-surgical evaluations with intracranial electrodes, in patients who implanted with depth electrodes and subdural grids. 

  • Involve in the mapping of eloquent cortex with electrical stimulation of depth electrodes and subdural grids.

  • Participate in the reading of EEGs at UMH, the PAC, Jackson Memorial Hospital and Jackson South.

  • Responsible for call schedule covering the epilepsy-monitoring unit (EMU) when the first-year fellows are unavailable. 

  • Outpatient clinic, which will include a satellite biweekly clinic at Boca Raton.
  • Participate in a research project that should be developed with the assistance of one of the epilepsy faculty members. Expected to submit at least an abstract to a national or international meeting.
  • Participate in the teaching of medical students, neurology residents and junior fellows.

Applicants must possess a Medical Degree from an accredited Medical School, Florida Medical License and eligible to take the Board in Neurology and Psychiatry. A previous fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology will be preferred.
