Job Description:

Ancilla College of Marian University seeks a general maintenance technician in the Department of Campus Operations. Working closely with the Manager of Campus Operations, the general maintenance technician promotes Ancilla College of Marian University’s Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by providing maintenance services as needed and/or assigned; assisting in a wide variety of maintenance activities; addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; and ensuring that tools, materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order and are available at job site when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
  • Performs repairs on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. Examples are ballast replacement, switch replacement, pump replacement, coil cleaning, unclog sinks and toilets, etc.
  • Performs repairs to interior and exterior finishes. Examples are ceiling tile or floor tile replacement, carpet repair, painting, glass replacement, cabinet repair , book shelves repair or replacement, bulletin board repair or replacement, wall repair, door repair or replacement, railing and partition repair, etc.
  • Performs inspections and repairs to exteriors (roof, roof drains, down spouts, caulking, tuck-pointing, etc.)
  • Helps with all setups and teardowns
  • Maintains grounds equipment
  • Maintains janitorial equipment
  • Snow removal
  • Employee MUST follow all University and departmental rules, regulations/policies and procedures.
  • Attend all department training sessions
  • Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications:

    Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Ancilla College of Marian University
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, handle or feel objects and tools, crouch or crawl, and talk/hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit and climb or balance.
  • The employee must routinely lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work closely with others in a team environment yet also highly motivated with an ability to work independently.
  • After hours support as requested.
