Department Description:

The Athletic Outdoor Facilities Unit is responsible for the administration, management and maintenance of all Athletic Facilities, including Kenan Stadium, Boshamer Stadium, Fetzer Field, Navy Fields, Henry Stadium, Belk Track, Eddie Smith Field House, McCaskill Soccer Center, Anderson Softball Stadium, Finley Athletic Fields, Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center, Carmichael Arena, Ranson-Hammrick Cross Country Course, University Lake
Boathouse, 220 Finley and 216 Finley as well as the associated buildings and grounds. These facilities are used by the Athletics Department’s 28 varsity programs, University organizations and the local community.

Position Description:

THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED APPOINTMENT WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 3 YEARS.
The primary purpose of this position is the planning and supervision of the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of primarily secondary electrical systems, equipment and fixtures for the Athletic Facilities Unit. Building mechanical and HVAC systems maintenance management and project management.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification. Optional Guidelines: xperience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of standard practices, materials and processes of electrical trade.
Knowledge of design, installation and maintenance of electrical instruments, apparatus and components.
Ability to plan, layout work and develop designs from a rough sketch and oral instructions. Ability to interpret and work from sketches, blueprints, wiring
diagrams and oral instructions. Ability to locate and correct defects in electrical systems and equipment.
Ability to work and bend metal conduit. Ability to operate common types of machinery. Skill in the use and care of tools commonly used in the electrical
trades.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of State Building and Electrical Codes.
Ability to install or work on smoke detectors and fire alarms.
Ability to plan and supervise the work of others

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Valid NC Driver’s license

Special Physical and Mental Requirements:

Must be able to move/lift 25 lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Must be able to manage a high-volume, fast paced environment.
Attention to detail essential. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
