05-Mar-2021 Close All Job SummaryThe Donaldson Lab at the University of Colorado Boulder is encouraging applications for a Professional Research Associate (Technician) to work on projects related to the neural encoding of pair bonds. Experience with animal handling, rodent behavioral assays, intracranial stereotactic surgery, transcardial perfusion, tissue sectioning, and immunohistochemistry is sought, but training opportunities are also available. The successful applicant is expected to have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. The start date is flexible, but ideally no later than June 15 in order to receive adequate training.

We are an interdisciplinary lab housed in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Colorado, Boulder. We study the mechanistic basis for individual differences in behavior and how these impact likelihood to develop mental illness. Our work utilizes mice, prairie voles, and post-mortem human tissue, in advanced neurogenetic and circuit-level analysis to better understand how genes and environment shape who we are. (http://www.zdonaldsonlab.com) What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be This is a full-time position, and approximately 30% of the time is spent managing the lab, including ordering, regulatory compliance, animal husbandry, data management, and other administrative tasks. The remaining 70% of the time will be spent carrying out experimental work involving intracranial injection of viral vectors in prairie and meadow voles, along with subsequent expression analysis.
