Doctoral degree required. Preferred MD, DO or PhD with understanding of both basic sciences and health service researchRequired Related Experience:
•Strong administrative and research management skills with experience in compliance with research regulations and accreditation.
•Working knowledge of health care, education, and research activities and interdependencies with accurate understanding of the development trends in clinical and basic medical science and postgraduate training.
•At least five years of senior leadership experience in a university-based medical or public health school or research institution overseeing and conducting research.
•Demonstrated experience in securing extramural funding and strong scholarly publication.
•Experience in building/growing new research programs, ideally transdisciplinary and/or multi-organizational research collaborations.
•Demonstrated creativity in building research partnerships and identifying research funding opportunities within their own institution and beyond, including in partnership with public and private community entities, corporate partners, foundations, and state/federal agencies.
•Experience in mentoring junior faculty to help them obtain research funding to pursue meaningful lines of inquiry.
•Possesses role model excellence in attitude, compassion, professionalism, and personal behavior.
•Strong collaborative, organizational, negotiation, time management, and communication skills.
Must be in good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies.Job Summary:
The College of Medicine seeks a Vice Dean for Research who has a vision for the future of research in academic health systems that includes innovation and collaboration that benefits patient care, promotes scientific advancements, and will expand and diversify the research portfolio for the college. Responsibilities include overall responsibility for facilities, administration, legal and risk management programs as they relate to research for all campus sites. Assurance of alignment with the University’s and college’s mission, responsiveness to the needs of the state, and a program of superior quality meeting the standards of accrediting bodies will be major priorities.
