The Bioengineering Technology & Entrepreneurship Center (BTEC) is a new biomedical engineering maker space at BU that serves to educate bioengineering students and to foster open innovation by students at the intersection of biology and technology. The BTEC Manager is responsible for the day-to-day functioning and impact of the BTEC (housing three labs) and in addition, supervises the Imagineering Innovation Lab and its lab supervisor.

This position works with the BTEC Executive Director and other faculty on the design and execution of BTEC-related educational activities, industry-partner events, and student competitions. This position also assists faculty and students using the facility. It is expected that the individual has an understanding and hands-on experience with teaching and research in biomedical engineering including some combination of cell culture, fundamental techniques of molecular and cell biology, and medical instrumentation.


In carrying out these responsibilities, they will supervise operations in BTEC, oversee activities of the Imagineering lab supervisor, train students, and other personnel in the use of equipment, ensure equipment functionality and maintenance, establish accurate operating procedures, purchase equipment and needed consumable supplies, supervise equipment use and provide oversight for safety compliance.

Required Skills
  • 1-3 years of work-related experience in a biomedical field
  • Master’s degree in a biomedical-related field.
