Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; possession of a license as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the State of Georgia. Completion of a master’s degree level nurse practitioner program with certification as a Nurse Practitioner as recognized by the Georgia Board of Nursing. Preference given to College Health or adolescent/young adult health care and experience in an integrated Primary/Behavioral care environment. Current BLS Certification or attainment within 30 days of start.

Under the supervision of a physician, provides age-appropriate primary care to eligible members of the University community in the form of primary prevention, health education, and assessment and treatment of health problems. Obtains medical history and performs physical assessments. Analyzes, interprets, and evaluates subjective and objective findings to develop an assessment and initiate a treatment plan or referral to appropriate physician. Assists the physician or performs routine duties and collaborates/consults with the physician as indicated in UHC procedures and clinical guidelines in accordance with privileges granted. Promotes healthy living through education and primary prevention. Provides appropriate documentation in the medical chart. Attends and participates in staff conferences, clinic and committee meetings. Obtains appropriate continuing medical education maintains licensure and national certification. Participates in performance improvement activities of the team or department and demonstrates the ability to further and support the Health Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Performs routine therapeutic duties (e.g. providing first aid care, wound care, suturing minor wounds and lacerations, suture removal, incision and drainage procedures) and collaborates/consults with the physician as indicated in Nurse Practitioner protocols and University Health Center procedures in accordance with privileges granted.

Provides age-appropriate patient care to University students and eligible members of the University community. Obtains medical history and performs physical assessments appropriate to the patient’s presenting complaints and age. Provides appropriate documentation in the medical record. Attends and participates in staff conferences, clinic meetings, committee meetings, and NP/PA meetings.

Develops a plan of care based upon assessment, which includes prescribing appropriate medications and treatments, providing follow-up care, and evaluating the effectiveness of care. Promotes healthy living through education and primary prevention. Provides patient education regarding medications, treatments, anticipated outcomes, and referrals.

Contributes to the University Health Center service culture. Demonstrates effective and professional communication skills. Obtains appropriate continuing medical education and maintains licensure, national certification, and Georgia Board recognition as a nurse practitioner. Works effectively as a member of a team.
