Department Summary:

The Office of Research Compliance at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire an IACUC Administrator to join our team. This position is responsible for providing support to the UNTHSC Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, within the Office of Research Compliance, in the Division of Research and Innovation.

Position Overview:

The Office of Research Compliance (ORC) at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire an IACUC Administrator to join our team. The IACUC Administrator provides administrative support for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) to support compliance of the animal care and use program in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. This position will report directly to the Sr. IACUC Administrator and will also work closely with the ORC. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

*Interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws/regulations relevant to use of animals in research, teaching, and testing for all species used or housed at UNTHSC.
*Support the implementation and maintenance of all UNTHSC IACUC procedures, policies, recommendations, and documentation regarding the animal care and use program.
*Support and manage workflow for routine IACUC processes.
*Communicate with investigators, IACUC members, IACUC Chair, Attending Veterinarian and animal care staff on a regular basis.
*Attend scheduled meetings and prepare IACUC meeting agendas, correspondence, and minutes.
*Assist in the new member orientation, and periodic member trainings.
*Assist the Sr. IACUC Administrator, IACUC Chair and Veterinarian in the preparation of PHS, USDA and AAALAC report documents.
*Schedule and perform post-approval monitoring audits.
*Assist the IACUC in the preparation, organization, and conduction of Semi-Annual inspections of the animal facility and laboratories, and also perform inspection rechecks for any noncompliance found.
*Document and maintain IACUC files, occupational health enrollment, and training requirements records in databases, utilizing software programs such as SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Word, and a protocol management system.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

*CPIA or LATG certification preferred
*Experience with regulatory compliance (in various areas), experience in animal research or IACUC role, or interest or background in animal care.
*Bachelor’s degree in animal science or any health science field.
*Prior experience with critical thinking, project management, document management and client interactions.
*Positive attitude toward work and co-workers
*Be comfortable communicating with all levels of management and employees.

o:

Assist Sr. IACUC Administrator with IACUC operations, which includes the interpretation and application of federal, state, and local laws and regulations relevant to use of animals in research, teaching, and testing for all species used or housed at UNTHSC. This includes supporting the implementation and maintenance of IACUC procedures, policies and recommendations regarding the UNTHSC animal care and use program, including the maintenance of all related records, including regulatory records, in compliance with UNTHSC SOPs, and federal/regulatory requirements. This position will work directly with researchers/investigators, and will also work closely with the IACUC (Chair and members), laboratory animal personnel, the ORC Director as well as other ORC staff.

o:

Support and manage workflow for routine IACUC processes, including conducting grant congruence checks, completing pre-reviews of animal care and use research protocols and related documents, overseeing the review and approval process for animal care and use research protocols, amendments and annual reviews prior to submission to the IACUC, and following-up on all protocol changes and modifications required by the IACUC.

o:

Attend scheduled meetings and prepare IACUC meeting agendas, correspondence, and minutes. Assist in the new member orientation, and periodic member trainings.

o:

Assist Sr. IACUC Administrator, IACUC Chair, and Attending Veterinarian in the preparation of AAALAC, USDA, and OLAW report documents.

o:

Coordinate scheduling of and perform post-approval monitoring audits to ensure animal care and use research protocols are being conducted in accordance with approved IACUC procedures, as well as UNTHSC policies and federal regulations. Additionally, assist the IACUC in the preparation, organization, and conduction of Semi-Annual Inspections of the animal facility and laboratories, and also performing inspection rechecks for any noncompliance found (as well as ensuring that non-compliance issues are appropriately addressed by the research teams).

o:

Document and maintain IACUC files, occupational health enrollment, and training requirements records in databases, utilizing software programs such as SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Word, and a protocol management system. Other types of office support to maintain electronic systems/databases may also be asked of the incumbent.
