Advertised Job Summary:

The Center for Integrative and Experiential Learning (CIEL) supports all students in enhancing their UofSC education by connecting academics and beyond the classroom experiences through integrative and experiential learning. In order to further this goal, Experiential Learning coordinator and database manager works with the office leading Beyond the Classroom Matters (BTCM) and CIEL to maintain and populate the university-wide database, My UofSC Experience, to advertise and showcase the various engagements available across campus to current and incoming students. This growing database includes beyond the classroom engagements from both academic and student affairs from the Columbia UofSC campus as well as the four 2-year Palmetto College campuses (Lancaster, Salkehatchie, Sumter, and Union). In order to promote experiential learning among all students, the Experiential Learning coordinator and database manager also assists with the logistics of course-related beyond the classroom experiences, such as field trips, risk management, meals, other travel, guest speakers, etc. Duties include reserving parking, purchasing tickets, arranging travel, tracking support allocation and spending, reserving transportation and rooms, and assisting faculty in compiling reimbursement paperwork.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):

Masters degree in social science, education, or related field and two years experience in curriculum management or leadership development or bachelor’s degree and four years experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in social science, education, or related field. Experience working with databases and logistics. Knowledge of integrative and experiential learning. Strong writing and presentation skills. The ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills. Expertise in a variety of technologies and open to training in new applications and programs, especially those related to databases.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Strong organizational and administrative abilities with keen attention to detail. Ability to establish and manage priority projects, while also tracking the progress of additional projects. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, and staff from all areas of the university. Flexibility and ability to work with a diverse team. Ability to contribute to a productive, professional environment. Comfort with the development, brainstorming, and creation of new practices and procedures. Willingness to learn best practices regarding database design and programs. Initiative and resourcefulness to work without direct supervision.
