JOB SUMMARY:
Perform professional duties related to the Office of Major Fellowships (OMF), focused primarily on identifying and advising high-performing and high-potential college students seeking major fellowships. Performs recruitment and outreach to key constituencies. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - ADVISING and MENTORING:
Meets regularly with potential fellowship candidates, particularly freshman, in one-on-one advising sessions. Provides supplemental advising to students on a wide range of topics including nationally competitive programs and opportunities, campus resources, and opportunities for personal growth and development. Follows up with students throughout their Clemson careers to assure milestones are met.
35% - Essential - FELLOWSHIPS APPLICATION PROCESS:
Reviews candidate materials, provides feedback, and conducts assessment activities for assigned fellowship programs. Assists the Director with forming interview committees, schedules interviews and drafts endorsement/nomination materials as needed. Tracks incoming scholarship materials (transcripts, waivers, letters of recommendation).
25% - Essential - PROMOTION AND PUBLICITY:
Assists the Director in promoting awareness of major fellowships opportunities among Clemson undergraduate and graduate students, including but not limited to students in the Calhoun Honors College, and across campus constituencies. Activities include general workshops, scholarship info-sessions, advising sessions, promotional materials and social media development.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years experience working with high performing students.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Master's Degree and experience working in a fellowships office. Knowledge of major fellowships.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory Duties - Supervises Student workers only.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master's Degree and experience working in a fellowships office. Knowledge of major fellowships.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
5% - Overnight Travel
WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 05 ($ 33,494.00 - $ 51,000.00)
