The University of Southern Maine's School of Nursing (SON) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month (September–May) faculty appointment at the rank of lecturer to start September 2021. The successful candidate must be able to teach in the undergraduate program within their area of expertise. The SON is the largest nursing program in the University of Maine System with an enrollment of 400 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. The school grants baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral (DNP) degrees, and is housed within the College of Science, Technology and Health. Our teaching facilities include a state-of-the-art simulation center and a new $1.5 M high-fidelity simulation center.

The SON has a long tradition of incorporating community-based learning and civic engagement into its programs. Required responsibilities include teaching and service. Teaching schedules are flexible with classes taught during a variety of times and days, and utilizing various delivery methods including face-to-face and online formats. Nursing classes are taught predominantly on the Portland and Lewiston campuses. Faculty participate in service activities related to the department, college, university, professional organizations, and community.

New faculty receive release time for a robust University wide orientation in their first semester. Ongoing support includes: a faculty mentorship program, professional development, and available support for use of technology.

Qualifications:

Required: A completed graduate degree in nursing and registered nurse in Maine or eligible for RN licensure in Maine.

Preferred: Specialty focus in mental health, reproductive health, or ability to teach across the curriculum; teaching experience.
