The position will be responsible for assisting staff with COVID related research and the continued development of nucleic acid assays for the Improved Scalability, Sensitivity, and Interpretability of Pathogen Detection, Including SARS-CoV-2, in Wastewater using High-Throughput, Highly Multiplexed Digital Array PCR Technology project. This project proposes highly multiplexed digital PCR assays on wastewater collected from multiple diverse geographical regions that will be comprehensive, rapid, low cost, and quantitative for monitoring the circulation of disease. The assay system will be able to address novel pathogens by allowing rapid aggregation of genetic tests for these new targets with a highly multiplexed, digital assay platform. This project promotes outbreak risk mitigation. The position will perform research and development in support of this project, seeking guidance from senior staff when necessary. The Technician will be responsible for gathering and accurately recording data and for effectively reporting results to senior staff in reports and presentations. They will collaborate with other team members to integrate new assays into the microfluidic platform.Education and Experience:
Minimum Educational Requirements:
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Research experience performing laboratory protocols, preferably diagnostic assays. The abilities to maintain detailed experimental records and communicate effectively are required.
