Position Summary:

Applications are invited for an outstanding post-doctoral research associate to join the Department of City and Regional Planning working under the direction of Prof. Miyuki Hino at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There is flexibility regarding location and remote work.
The post-doctoral research associate is expected to conduct research evaluating climate change risks and adaptation. Specific topics of interest include coastal flooding, climate-induced migration and retreat, and the social and economic impacts of climate hazards. The post-doctoral research associate will be expected to contribute to several projects through research design, data collection and analysis, manuscript development, project management, and mentorship of students. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to engage with intellectual opportunities across UNC.
The candidate must hold a PhD in environmental studies/sciences, geography, public policy, city and regional planning, engineering, or related discipline. Experience conducting research related to climate risks and/or adaptation is essential. Successful candidates will also demonstrate strong training in quantitative analysis and statistical approaches along with knowledge of research design. Applications from candidates with expertise in applied econometrics are particularly encouraged.
