Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the UNC CFAR Social and Behavioral Sciences Research Core’s mission is to promote and stimulate new research and support ongoing collaborative HIV-related social and behavioral research at UNC CFAR institutions including UNC Chapel Hill, FHI360, RTI, and related institutions.
The Social/Clinical Research Assistant will assist with research activities on the ENLIGHTEN (Establishing Novel antiretroviraL ImaginG for Hair To Elucidate Nonadherence) pilot study, a collaboration between the UNC CFAR Social and Behavioral Sciences Core, Clinical Pharmacology Core, and Biostatistics Core. The ENLIGHTEN pilot study is investigating the feasibility, appropriateness, and acceptability of using a novel antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence monitoring tool with patients living with HIV and their medical providers in a clinical setting at UNC.
The individual in this position will be an integral member of the research team, working closely with the project coordinators, research assistants, data managers, and study investigators on implementation, documentation, and quality management of both clinical and social-behavioral components of the study. Primary duties will include conducting quality control of study documentation, collecting and processing biological samples, conducting in-depth qualitative interviews with research participants, attending weekly team meetings, and assisting with any other study activities, as needed.
The research assistant must have strong attention to detail and be able to work well both independently and collaboratively with research team members.Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive to field activities within NC, on occasion.
•Prior experience conducting research in a clinical setting.
•Prior experience collecting biological samples (such as blood or hair).
•Prior experience conducting patient or research interviews.
•Prior experience coding/analyzing qualitative data.
•Experience working with people living with HIV and/or experience in sexual/reproductive health.
•Current Good Clinical Practice and CITI Human Subjects Research training.
