Position Summary:

This position is a tenure-track 9-month Assistant Professor in Human Resources position beginning August 1, 2021. Review of applications will begin on or about March 30, 2021 and will continue until a candidate has been selected for hire.

For more than thirty years, Western Carolina University’s M.S. degree program in Human Resources (MSHR) has been developing HR professionals to play leadership roles in organizations of all types. The nationally ranked WCU MSHR program is currently delivered 100% online with over 100 students enrolled. The program curriculum focuses on developing HR professionals who possess Strategic, Operational, Relational, and Ethical and Socially Responsible leadership competencies. In addition to the coursework, students are also provided with unique opportunities to develop their HR skills via pro bono online consulting projects with nonprofit organizations and small businesses.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position:

Teaching and advising students (3/3 teaching load, with summer teaching opportunities); Conducting scholarship activities, and providing university, college, community and program service (including leading students in pro bono HR consulting projects). Being physically present on campus and in the community is expected to fulfill service responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Earned doctorate or ABD in human resources or closely related field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to someone who has experience teaching and designing online courses in the human resource and leadership fields, evidence of a research agenda, HR consulting experience, and student advising experience.
