The School of Music at Texas State University seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the area music education string specialist.
The successful candidate will be expected to 1) Teach undergraduate courses in string music education and violin applied study, graduate courses in areas of expertise, and other courses as needed; 2) Supervise student teachers and graduate-level capstone projects; 3) Maintain a record of scholarly/research activity, outreach programs, and make substantive professional contributions in the field of music education; 4) Participate in university, community, and professional service. Specific duties are assigned by the Director. All positions are subject to availability of funds.Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in music education or equivalent degree.
Success as a music educator with a minimum of two years of secondary-level classroom string teaching experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience teaching string orchestra and/or string techniques in a group setting.
Evidence of successful string applied lesson teaching.
Experience in Suzuki instructional techniques and supervising student teachers.
