•Bachelor’s degree required in business, communication or related field.

•High energy, self-starter with excellent organizational skills.

•Extensive knowledge and experience in MS Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

•The successful candidate must have 5 years of experience in managing volunteer programs or business outreach.

•Master’s degree or higher.

•Experience raising funds by developing and implementing strategic solicitation fundraising plans that incorporate a concise definition of goals, targeted audiences, and strategies in line with institutional goals preferred.

•Experience working with program leadership in a capital or comprehensive campaign.

•Experience in using database information and data analysis.

•Experience with Raiser’s Edge database.

•Alumnus of Texas State University.

Job Description:

The Director of Alumni Relations reports to the Assistant Vice President for University Advancement and is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive alumni engagement for a large public research university. The director provides meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, service, personal and professional development, and creates events, initiatives, programs and services for alumni. This position will foster and strengthen ties with the University’s more than 206,000 alumni, working to increase engagement and financial support through effective communication, celebration of achievements, fostered engagement, and broad outreach. The director will supervise and manage employees reporting to this position, ensuring accountability in satisfactory attainment of goals, and will manage related budget(s) and funds related to Alumni Relations.

Job Duties:

Alumni Relations Responsibilities

•Lead the strategic direction and operations of the Alumni Relations Office.

•Work closely with the other advancement and university units to ensure that all areas are working in a cohesive environment towards the goals of the university.

•Serve as a major gift officer for the alumni relations team.

•Serve as an active member of the advancement leadership team.

•Work with colleges and departments to enhance alumni programming.

•Work with other academic support departments and athletics to aid and assist them in reaching their goals and seek out opportunities for alumni programming.

•Oversee all financial decisions of the Office of Alumni Relations and of the Association, including setting and monitoring budgets, and ensuring a clear, independent financial audit.

•Represent the university in the community.

•Provide direction for the day-to-day operation of the Alumni Relations Office.

•Select, train, encourage and manage an effective and efficient alumni relations staff.

•Direct the implementation of effective on-and off-campus events, programs, and activities.

•Utilizes metrics and analytics to identify opportunities for improvement and evaluate the effectiveness of alumni engagement strategies.

•Promotes a culture of positivity, collaboration, continuous improvement and commitment to quality.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

Alumni Association Responsibilities

•Works with and supports the Alumni Association Executive Committee and Board of Directors as the Executive Director of the Alumni Association.

•Manage all Alumni Association Board of Directors related activity, including executive committee meetings, committee work, and quarterly Board meetings.

•Maintain ongoing communication with members of the Alumni Association Board to ensure productive involvement.

•Keep abreast and share with the Alumni Association Board and staff, current and future trends in alumni relations and administration that will strengthen the Association’s ability to fulfill its mission.

•Provide for sound management of the association’s financial resources.
