General Description:

Under general supervision, acts as building guard and inquiry person in a major campus building.

Typical Duties:

The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and the extent of responsibility involved in this job. They in no way limit the incumbent to the duties indicated.

(a) opens building at opening time and secures it at the end of normal business;

(b) observes incoming individuals, restraining those not properly in the building;

(c) gives information as to location of individuals and the proper officer to receive individual inquiries;

(d) may receive articles for delivery in the building;

(e) from directories or lists, gives inquirers the location or telephone number of desired offices elsewhere on the campus; and

(f) prepares reports

(g) contacts Campus Police in case of emergency

(h) other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements for Selection:

Education:

Completion of Grade Twelve or equivalent.

Experience:

One year of similar work experience.

Other:

Ability to meet the public effectively and to exercise judgment and tact; ability to communicate effectively in English (orally and written). Must possess and maintain a valid License to Act as a Security Guard and/or Private Investigator issued by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. May be required to possess and maintain a valid non probationary "G" Ontario Drivers License. Must possess and maintain a valid Level "C" CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate through a recognized provider. Must maintain clean criminal record.
