Department Summary:

Media Arts enrolls approximately 1200 undergraduate students annually and Mayborn enrolls approximately 1100 undergraduates annually. UNT is located in Denton, Texas, in the DFW metroplex, the fifth largest media market in the United States.

Position Summary:

The Department of Media Arts and the Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism invite applications for a position beginning fall 2021 at the Visiting Lecturer level position. This is a temporary, joint appointment that will be shared between Media Arts and Mayborn.

Position Responsibilities
Courses the person could be asked to teach include (but are not limited to) interviewing and performance for broadcast and social media platforms; storytelling/developing digital content for television/newscasts; and intro and advanced writing for broadcast. This is a 4/4 teaching load (2 Journalism, 2 Media Arts) with limited committee/service responsibilities.

Applicants are required to have experience in professional television broadcasting, specifically skills in all aspects of multi-platform storytelling. Teaching will be split between the Department of Media Arts and the Mayborn School of Journalism undergraduate degree programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.A Master’s Degree in an appropriate area is required at the time of appointment or equivalent professional experience.

2.Two to three years of professional experience in a television/digital newscast/news environment.

3.Ability to teach writing, reporting/story-telling, producing, and content development for television/digital.

Preferred Qualifications:

1.Teaching experience.

2.Ability to teach for Spanish language media.
