Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Center for Women and Community Director develops and delivers innovative educational initiatives as a member of the community education team with the intent of meeting campus priorities, grant requirements, federal and state mandates. Responsible for development, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of pedagogically grounded violence prevention education and campaigns. Content areas include: primary prevention of sexual and relationship violence; sexual harassment prevention, stalking prevention, child sexual abuse prevention, bullying prevention, healthy relationships, consent, trauma-informed practices, and supporting survivors. Provide direct services including counseling, crisis support, and advocacy as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Provide in-person, online, and blended curriculum and educational campaigns for diverse populations in collaboration with the community education team.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally relevant outreach and violence-prevention strategies. Create or adapt existing programs to respond to populations, culture, and needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessment and evaluation of educational initiatives to ensure programming meets goals, funding requirements, and campus needs.
  • Participate in data collection and write reports for the organization, funders, and stakeholders.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers and interns ensuring compliance with mandates and safety protocols. Serves as a coach and mentor.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with campus and community stakeholders to meet stated goals.
  • Participate in operations of the organization. Provide direct support to survivors.

  • Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet Department, Executive Area/Division, and University goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • A Bachelor's degree plus two years related academic and/or work experience to include providing education and/or training.
  • Demonstrated understanding of one or more of the following: Primary Prevention Models, prevention of sexual and relationship violence; bullying prevention, stalking prevention, sexual harassment prevention, child sexual abuse prevention, bystander intervention, healthy relationships, consent, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Experience providing training and/or education in one or more of the following formats: in-person, online, and/or blended learning.
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in education and outreach in various formats for diverse populations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Contemporary knowledge of current events, social movements, and/or political trends related to sexual violence and/or prevention.
  • Evidence of creativity and knowledge of educational pedagogy, adult learning principles, and/or related public health models.
  • A collaborative team approach to work. Meets individual goals, and constructively provides, seeks, and implements feedback.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet time sensitive deadlines and prioritize workload with minimal supervision.
  • Some weekend or evening hours required. A valid driver's license and access to a car is required.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Experience with delivering education through online learning programs and technologies such as Adobe Captivate, LMS platforms (Moodle/Blackboard), Camtasia, etc.
  • Experience utilizing emerging and innovative graphic design, video editing, and social media technologies for educational initiatives. Familiarity with Adobe Suite of products (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.).
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and/or Zoom.
  • Understanding of student development, social justice theories, and/or adult learning principles.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, analyzing, and communicating assessment data to improve project outcomes.
  • Experience providing culturally responsive services for diverse communities.
  • Experience working in a university setting and college communities.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Driver's license required for travel to other worksites on and off campus.
  • Lift/carry 30 pounds (or more): computers, projectors, moving tables, chairs for room set up.
  • Stand for extended periods of time for presentations, workshops, training.

Additional Details

  • This is a grant funded one year interim appointment through March 2022; reappointment beyond is dependent on funding availability.

Work Schedule

M-F 37.5 hours/week.

Requires frequent evening hours and some weekend and holiday hours.
