Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Executive Director of the Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute (NRCI) will be responsible for leading and promoting the strategic plan objectives for the Institute in collaboration with the NRCI Advisory Board. The Executive Director will report to the Campus Dean and work collaboratively with the NRCI Consultant, NRCI Fellow, Faculty and additional supports to achieve the objectives.

Principal Duties:

  • Lead and oversee the NRCI annual conference including recruiting qualified presenters, collaborating with the planning committee, managing the budget, and organizing logistics.

  • Prepare for and lead the Advisory Board meetings and project manage outcomes from the meetings.

  • Determine, initiate, and implement new and continuing NRCI projects.

  • Implement and grow NRCI throughout Chicago through increased recognition and impact on the community.

  • Recruit faculty to promote and support the mission of NRCI, as well as have faculty advise on graduate student program development and evaluation.

  • Collaborate with faculty on current and new projects related to NRCI and to serve as the main contact for TCSPP personnel as well as community partners.

  • Oversee the Fellows assigned to NRCI to ensure tasks are assigned and completed as necessary including: updates to the NRCI website, thank you letters to donors and NRCI supporters, developing and mailing promotional materials, coordinating the NRCI quarterly meetings, and other tasks as assigned.

  • Lead the NRCI Advisory Board to develop new projects and coordinate events to expand current reach.

  • Disseminate quarterly summaries on NRCI activities; including data evaluations related to completed projects.

  • Create and closely monitor the NRCI budget to ensure goals are being met and that budget requirements are adhered to.

  • Ensure all required department financial responsibilities are managed promptly, including payment of invoices.

  • Create and disseminate a quarterly newsletter to be shared with the TCSPP community, partnerships, and social media outlets.

  • Ensure approval from the required parties on any communication that comes from the Cohen’s or TCSPP personnel to donors and other supporters of NRCI.

  • Develop and lead fundraising efforts to support and expand growth of NRCI.

  • Work in conjunction with the communications department to ensure heighted awareness of NRCI and its mission.

  • Develop a broadened footprint for NRCI across TCSPP campuses with a strong focus on expansion across all locations.

  • Work with the Coordinator of Special Projects, Government, Corporate and Foundation Relations and the Advisory Board on the annual appeal, fundraising initiatives and grant writing opportunities.

  • Maintain the NRCI website to ensure up to date information and announcements of successful events are communicated.

  • Develop programming to support the reduction of stigma relative to the communities TCSPP serves.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills, enthusiasm, and self-motivation. Possesses a strong sense of accountability.

  • Passion for addressing mental health stigma.

  • Strong critical thinking skills in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Ability to communicate ideas and information effectively in both verbal and written form.

  • Experience leading community based partnerships.

  • Ability to manage one’s time and the time of others effectively.

  • Solid experience in fundraising for a non-profit organization.

  • Develop sustainable, long standing programs in the community

  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.

  • Embodies the mission, vision, and values of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

  • Capability to work in a matrix organization.

  • Familiarity with literature on mental health stigma.

  • Demonstrated advocacy for diversity.

  • Familiarity with use of social media.

Position Qualifications:

  • 5 years+ running a non-profit organization or similar leadership experience

  • Master’s degree in Mental Health or Social Work or related field

  • Licensed required (LCPC, LCSW, or Clinical Psychologist)

  • Ability to travel to conference and program activities as required
