Job Summary:

Job Function:
Teachers will develop and deliver curriculum to Upward Boundparticipants in their designated subject areas during the six-week SummerInstructional Component.

Essential Job Functions:

Develop curriculum and select instructional materials for one of these academic courses (Science, Math, English, or Latin)

Design and conduct pre and post-test in subject area. Create lesson plans for six weeks of summer instruction.

Create supply list to be purchased by UB. Complete student evaluations. Possess the ability and experience to work with and motivate low income/first generation students.

Assist with other duties as assigned by the director.

Maintain a positive learning environment using guidelines set forth in the UB Staff and Student Handbooks.

Observe and comply with state law, OSU-OKC policy and procedures and guidelines set forth in the UB Staff and Student Handbooks.

Completes all mandatory training.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Teaching Certificate in content area

Work Experience:
2-3 years of instructional experience in secondary and/orpost-secondary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to a multicultural environment in an effort to work and communicate effectively with all students.

Passion for assisting students and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism

Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.

Preferred Qualifications:

    Certification preferred
    Experience teaching at-risk youth
Working Conditions:

Evening and weekend hours may be required. Normal office working conditions

Physical Requirements:

    Normal office physical requirements.Ability to participate in student activities and trips off campusRequires lifting up to 30 pounds (if an object weighs more than 45 pounds, OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift.)
