Job Description Summary

Housed within the Center for Cytokine Storm Treatment & Laboratory (CSTL) at the University of Pennsylvania, CORONA is providing real-time data and insights to guide clinical trial design and inform the global effort to identify treatments for COVID-19 in partnership with Google Health, FDA, Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, and others.
Job Description
Due to the major unmet need, the CSTL, in partnership with the Division of Translational Medicine & Human Genetics and the Fajgenbaum lab, is now expanding CORONA to include a new STORM (Systematic Tracker Of Repurposed/new Medicines) tool and searching for a talented, experienced, and motivated Program Manager to coordinate the expansion and ongoing execution of CORONA. In addition to continuing to track all treatments administered to COVID-19 patients, STORM will also integrate and track all pre-clinical treatment data and clinical trial data and enable the search for patterns, identification of promising drugs that need to be evaluated in clinical trials, and facilitate the development of recommendations to strengthen the global effort to combat COVID-19. In one place, government agencies, academic researchers, philanthropic organizations, and biopharmaceutical companies will be able to access all data at no cost on all potential treatments for COVID-19. Working in partnership with the Managing Director, the Program Manage of CORONA will be tasked with managing the successful execution of projects to achieve our overarching goal of accelerating the identification of effective COVID-19 treatments. Specifically, this position will be responsible for defining detailed project requirements, creating and implementing procedures related to research, data quality, and best practices, and executing projects in collaboration with internal team members and external partners, including managing engagements with government, industry, philanthropic, and academic partners as well as day-to-day interactions with vendors and consultants supporting the CORONA project. The Program Manager will support the Managing Director to develop master schedules from work plans, liaise with key constituents to drive and maintain timelines, update relevant parties on timeline updates and delays, track critical milestones, consolidate and present progress updates, and use discretion to appropriately escalate issues. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and execution of a major national initiative directed against COVID-19 and interface broadly with internal and external (federal government, pharmaceutical collaborators, non-profit partners, external academic collaborators, etc.) stakeholders from around the world to assure rapid progression of the science towards medical breakthroughs that help patients.
Qualified candidates will have expertise in project management of biomedical projects. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly motivated, patient-focused team that works closely with international collaborators and the federal government to make and publish novel discoveries that will have a significant impact on patients who have COVID-19 and other diseases with major unmet medical need.
