The Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University seeks an Assistant Director of Pre-College and Continuing Education (PCE) to provide leadership and implementation of innovative and accessible high school and adult learner program offerings. Tyler Pre-College and Continuing Education Programs have a strong reputation of offering creatively driven high school students challenging and meaningful experiences of learning with other young students at one of the nation’s top schools for the study of art and architecture. The school also offers adult learners opportunities for enrichment and professional development through a diverse range of courses. 

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelors degree and 3-5 years experience in pre-college and continuing education required. Experience working in an academic setting or arts and design organization. Experience working with and supporting underrepresented and underserved populations, such as a university campus, K-12 school, community organization or museum. Experience managing staff and instructors. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree
  • A passion for the arts, design and built environment disciplines
  • Some knowledge of recruitment strategies, including but not limited to prospective student management, marketing, and targeted recruitment efforts
  • Use of social media platforms
  • Experience with grant-writing and/or working with grant funded programs
  • Experience with CRM systems a plus
  • Assessment and data driven mindset
Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work with the school’s leadership to develop state of the art pre-college and continuing education programs based on knowledge in the field
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with a wide variety of constituents including students, faculty, staff, family members, and community members
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a busy and collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of digital skills using Microsoft Office products, the Adobe Suite, and online LMS and other digital tools
  • Ability to travel locally and work weekends as needed
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
