The Department of History at Bucknell University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2021-2022 academic year whose teaching and research focuses on modern US history. The successful applicant will teach a 3-3 load. In the fall, they will teach an introductory History course focused on their expertise (History 100) that will be geared toward first-year students, and two advanced undergraduate courses, US History 1940s-present (History 222), and American Identities (History 204). Scheduling for spring 2022 will be more flexible and may include an undergraduate seminar. Visiting Assistant Professors have access to mentorship and professional development opportunities through the Teaching and Learning Center. We seek a broadly trained teacher-scholar with a Ph.D. in History. Candidates in final stages of completing degree requirements for a PhD will also be considered.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of application; curriculum vitae; a philosophy of teaching statement that addresses diversity, equity, and inclusion; and the names and contact information of three references. In the letter of application, please provide a brief explanation of how you would teach History 100, History 222, and History 204 (short course descriptions can be found at https://coursecatalog.bucknell.edu/collegeofartsandsciencescurricula/areasofstudy/historyhist/#courseinventory). To submit your application, please visit Bucknell's career site (careers.bucknell.edu). Applications will only be accepted online.
