JOB SUMMARY:

SNAP-Ed is a federal/state partnership that supports health education for persons eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. This position will provide health education and program promotion. Coordinate data collection and review for accuracy to support preparation of required program materials. This position is classified as telecommuting, & requires travel. Preform other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Program Delivery:
Deliver health education programs to SNAP participants on a day to day basis. Travel to locations where training will be delivered and to meetings with community contacts that have eligible SNAP populations. Schedule and deliver educational classes with approved locations, including single and series lessons. Maintain a monthly class calendar, order materials and supplies.

20% - Essential - Program Outreach:
Build and maintain relationships with community partners to advocate for policy, systems, and environmental approaches to guide nutrition and physical activity behavior changes related to obesity prevention for the target population. Identify and develop networking strategies and relationships to build county coalitions and community partnerships to further locate and identify eligible SNAP participants for additional SNAP-Ed programs.

20% - Essential - Program Evaluation:
Conduct participant evaluations using pre- and post- assessments. Evaluate program participants for annual summary and EARS reports. Collect required demographic information on the clients served. Follow-up with contacts at the education sites. Identify new community partnerships within the assigned counties that serve eligible food stamp recipients. Participate in team development of program evaluation and staff training regarding delivery and evaluation methods.

20% - Essential - Administrative:
Track expenses for classroom materials, food supplies, office supplies and travel mileage. Complete monthly time and effort tracking documents. Submit required documentation for expenses and effort accurately and timely. Maintain necessary SNAP records for auditing purposes. This includes hard copies and electronic files. Inventory material and supplies. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience - 2+ years of experience in a clinical, public health, or health education setting
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree in nutrition, dietetics, community nutrition, public health, health promotion, or a closely related field such as psychology, biology, sociology or physical education.

Fundamental Job Knowledge - Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree in nutrition, dietetics, community nutrition, public health, health promotion, or a closely related field such as psychology, biology, sociology or physical education.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Overnight Travel
Telecommuting and reliable Internet access. Position requires a valid driver's license and use of personal vehicle. Frequent travel for work within the work day with occasional overnight trips.

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 04 ($ 27,527.00 - $ 28,560.00)
