Job Details

POSITION TITLE: Assistant Vice President for Student Services

The Assistant Vice President for Student Services/Dean of Students will report directly to the Vice President for Student Services and will provide strategies, vision, leadership, and supervision for essential units within the Division of Student Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Student Development, Counseling, or a related field required, a doctorate degree is preferred
  • Four- Six years of progressively responsible student affairs management experience in a college or university environment
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, direct, and evaluate a complex operation, using manpower, time, funds, and other resources for the accomplishment of long-term and short-term goals of the College

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates leadership, development opportunities, training, workshops, and promotional strategies to involve student organizations in activities and programs
  • Provides leadership and direction in establishing a leadership summit
  • Provides leadership and direction in establishing a motivational speaker series
  • Formulates and enforces policies and procedures regarding student development within student organizations
  • Prepares reports and funding requests
  • Coordinates students’ participation with College events, community projects, and various functions
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates the New Student and Transfer Orientation Program for the College
  • Provides support for programs, services, speakers, publication, travel, and other needs as requested by departments across the College in an effort to support and enhance the mission of the College
  • Participates in divisional meetings and serves on College committees
  • Investigates and adjudicates student conduct cases in a timely and effective manner
  • Develops and revises judicial procedures
  • Trains judicial board members regarding policies governing student conduct and judicial procedures
  • Reviews law enforcement reports for cases involving students and takes appropriate action
  • Monitors student compliance with sanctions and conditions mandated as a result of student conduct decisions and agreement
  • Provides occupancy, outcomes, programming, and violation reports on a monthly basis
  • Provides on-call consultation and/or response for emergency situations
  • Maintains positive working relationships and open communications with facilities, auxiliary services, campus security, food services enrollment management, and other areas of the College
  • Provides creative direction and leadership in establishing a parent program.
  • Other duties as assigned
