Position Summary:

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a part-time (.5FTE) physiatrist (fixed-term track) trained in PEDIATRIC REHABILITATION MEDICINE to join our rapidly expanding academic department. This position will provide both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. This faculty member will be expected to provide excellent clinical care to children and adolescents with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, brain injury, spinal cord injury, and other congenital and acquired pediatric conditions as part of a multidisciplinary team practicing at our outpatient rehabilitation center that includes on-site therapy and prosthetic/orthotic services. They will also be expected to see inpatient consults at the NC Children’s Hospital up to three half days per week. They will have a unique opportunity to work with other physicians and a care coordinator to help establish our new Cerebral Palsy Multi-disciplinary clinic and Transition Program for young adult patients with cerebral palsy. Faculty will also participate in teaching, research, and administrative activities as associated with an academic appointment and related areas of expertise. The individual will participate in existing programs and will have the opportunity to lead and develop new clinical, research and educational programs within the institution.

Educational Requirements:

The successful candidate will be board eligible/board certified in PM&R plus be sub-specialty board eligible/certified in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine. MD or DO with NC medical license or willingness to obtain state license.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong leadership abilities, a record of interdisciplinary collaboration, and have the desire to be involved in enhancing quality of patient care. Sub-specialty training in pediatric rehabilitation medicine is required.
