The Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia Health System is seeking an Assistant Professor (non-tenure) to join its clinical faculty within the Behavioral Medicine Center. Primary responsibilities will include providing outpatient, empirically-based psychological services (e.g., diagnostic assessment and intervention) to individuals diagnosed with a wide variety of medical and psychiatric disorders. Depending on the applicant’s areas of expertise, opportunities exist to work within Integrated Primary Care, UVA Emily Couric Cancer Center, and/or provide pre-surgical evaluations in collaboration with UVA’s bariatric and transplant services. The remaining time will be spent in (1) the training/supervision of psychology postdoctoral fellows, practicum students, and psychiatry residents, and (2) on NIH-funded research projects, as well as other clinical trials, conducted in the Behavioral Medicine Research Center or other clinical locations.

Candidates must have a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology or in a related field from an APA accredited program. Post-doctoral experience in Health Psychology is preferred. Preference will be given to those with experience providing evidenced-based, psychological interventions with medical populations, consulting with medical staff, and performing medically-specialized psychological evaluations. Candidates must be license-eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia and must be licensed by date of hire. Candidates must hold specialty board certification in Psychology or be board eligible and successfully pursue board certification upon hire.
